Career Discovery Program (Campus Tours)
At LCA, we understand that informed career choices made during formative years significantly impact future success. Adopting a Catch-Them-Young (CTY) approach, we empower high school students and undergraduates by offering tailored career-based training within their educational institutions and local community groups.
This training fosters a culture of self-discovery, resilience, and achievement, ensuring that every student emerges with a clear vision and the tools necessary to pursue their dreams.
The second edition of the summit featured the introduction of a plenary session with two scholarship recipients. Stephen Okpadah Chancellor International PhD scholar from the University of Warwick and Amarachi Onuorah a Mastercard Scholar from McGill University, Canada provided insights on their scholarship journey.
We also had in attendance Dr. Taiwo Afolabi and Aanu Afolabi from the University of Regina Saskatchewan, Canada and Fraser Foundation respectively as guest speakers. Their respective sessions pointed the attendees to existing opportunities and critical considerations funders make when assessing applications.
We plan to expand the scope of the program in 2023 to reach participants in other African countries. Identifying other opportunities for funding graduate studies abroad such as graduate research assistantship opportunities would also be explored with previous recipients of such opportunities coming to share their experiences with the audience.
